Our journey to you

Our journey to you
Notre chemin vers toi

Sommaire

Like many couples, we had plans, dreams, and the desire to start a family. But I believe deep down, I always sensed that our path to get there would be a little different.

    Then I discovered PMA.

A world you don’t really imagine before entering it. A world made of waiting, hope, appointments, emotional roller coasters, and an incredible strength you discover within yourself despite yourself.

Our journey began several years ago. In 2023, we started inseminations and underwent three. One of them gave us immense joy—the moment we finally saw a positive test.

Unfortunately, our baby left us far too soon, at nine weeks of pregnancy. It was an extremely difficult ordeal for my partner and me, especially since nothing had indicated such an outcome. We learned this during an ultrasound appointment when we discovered that the little heart was no longer beating. A little star that left us too soon but will always shine in our sky and in our hearts.

After that, we continued our path with several IVF treatments done at different centers and with different protocols. Within nine months, we underwent four IVF cycles. With each attempt, we hoped it would be the one. With each attempt, we had to learn to welcome a new disappointment. Each time, no viable embryo could be obtained, and no transfer could be performed.

When you go through unexplained infertility, sometimes it feels like you’re stuck even though you fight with all your strength every day. Yet you move forward. Slowly. Differently. But you move forward.

And then one day, we decided to take another path.

I often like to compare PMA to a long journey. When the main road is closed, you can spend months trying to force your way through. Then one day, you accept to take a secondary road. A route you never thought of at first but that can ultimately lead you to the same destination.

That’s how we turned to Spain.

There, we discovered another approach, different practices, another way of supporting couples in their parenting project. For the first time in a long time, we found a bit of hope.

In the fall of 2025, an embryo was finally obtained and transferred a few days later.

And this time, life decided to hold on.

Today, as I write these lines, I am 37 weeks pregnant. Our little boy should arrive in just a few days.

After all these years of waiting, it still feels unreal.

I like to call him our sun baby.

Not because he erases the difficult years. They will always be part of our story and his. But because he came to light a path that sometimes seemed very dark to us.

PMA is a journey full of contrasts. Of immense love, hope, joy, but also anger, sadness, confusion, sometimes even discouragement. Yet behind every journey, there is the same desire: to become a parent.

If there is one thing this adventure has taught me, it is also the importance of the couple.

Today, I realize how incredibly lucky I am to have gone through all this with a partner as present as mine.

He was there at every step. In waiting rooms, during appointments, in moments of doubt as well as moments of joy. When one of us faltered, the other was there to hold the course. Each experiences the trials differently, each grieves in their own way, but we always tried to move forward together.

I even believe this journey has made us stronger.

Not because we had to suffer to love more. But because it taught us to support each other, to listen to each other, and to choose each other every day despite the storms.

If you are currently on a PMA journey and reading these lines, I would simply like to say this: your story is not over.

Maybe your path will be longer than expected. Maybe it will take an unexpected direction. Maybe you will have to take a few side roads.

But as long as there is a possibility, there is hope.

And sometimes, at the end of the road, your own little sun awaits you 🌞 I wish this to all of you with all my heart.
